Stilted Trays

Stilted Trays reference traditional woven trays ubiquitous in different shapes, sizes and materials across asia. Each country has its own ways of weaving, and its own native materials, resulting in different forms. Despite their differences, the function of trays are always the same - to hold food or produce, usually for the convenience of transportation.

Polypropylene (PP) is a material that is, nowadays, widely used in the production of disposable containers for storage and transportation of food. With its advantages in cleanliness and hardiness, it has largely replaced the natural materials we used to use.

This set of three Stilted Trays are woven using brightly coloured recycled PP, and hope to give a more permanent and sustainable second life to this material.
